Edward Wayne Mitchell

1966 - 2026

Fort Atkinson, WI - Edward Wayne Mitchell, age 59 of Fort Atkinson, WI, formerly of Janesville, passed away at his residence in Fort Atkinson on Friday, January 2, 2026 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on December 5, 1966 in Prattville, AL, the son of James Edward and Della Marie (Smith) Mitchell. He grew up in Montgomery, AL and moved to Wisconsin when he was 18 years of age.

Edward was employed as a service technician for Bill's Heating and Cooling, and later for Lloyd's Plumbing and Heating until health problems forced him to retire. He also taught heating and air conditioning classes at Blackhawk Technical College for a time.

Edward was a member of the Janesville Bowmen Club. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Faith Community Church and will be remembered as a faithful Christian who set his eyes on Christ until his last breath. His greatest love was for his "little Angel", Marci, and his precious grandchildren.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Marci (Edward) Jacobson; son, Jeremy Mitchell; his former spouse and legal guardian, Dorraine Rittenhouse; grandchildren, Theodora and Lena Jacobson; sister, Trish (Mike) Ledbetter; numerous beloved nieces and nephews including Jamie Crane and William "Billy" Mitchell and many more. He was preceded in death by his father James Mitchell; mother, Della Mitchell; brother William Mitchell; sister, Martha Dean Grimes.

Thanks to his special caretakers with Abilities Inc, Nysa, Amber, Amy, Katrina and Kim as well as to the Rainbow Hospice staff.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon Saturday, January 10, 2026 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 n. Wright Road, Janesville. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to Noon January 10th at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a memorial fund which is being established.
