Brian David Mitchell, age 79, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Stonebridge of Newtown, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rebecca (Blaze) Mitchell. Born in Bridgeport on May 26, 1946, he was a son of the late Bronis J. and Joan N. (Ketchum) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Stratford High School before attending Quinnipiac University and American Cyanamid in Stamford, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He then began a long, successful career as a respiratory technician at Norwalk Hospital that lasted over 47 years and built many friendships along the way. He enjoyed skiing in the winters and his summers were enjoyed in the sun and on the beach. Other enjoyments included fishing and following the UConn basketball programs. His greatest enjoyment, however, was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted children, Jennifer Mitchell-Estes and her husband, Bruce of Shelton and Christopher Mitchell and his wife, Maura of Monroe; his cherished grandchildren, Magen Estes and Evalie and Georgia Mitchell; as well as seven nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Rebecca, he was also predeceased by his brother, James M. Mitchell.
Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
