Edward George Moe
Feb. 11, 1938 - Jul 18, 2025
Edward "Eddie" Moe, 87, passed away peacefully at the Greenbush Manor nursing home, with family by his side, after a 5-year battle with prostate cancer.
Eddie was born on February 11, 1938, to Albert Casper and Emma Elizabeth (Cuno) Moe, at home in Grygla, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla. He attended country school through the sixth grade, a half mile from his home. He completed the eighth grade in Grygla and later earned his GED.
He was in the MN National Guard from 1960-1966 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. On November 21, 1964, Eddie was united in marriage to Delores Sylvia Hanson at Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla. They made their home on the family farm North of Grygla in Valley Township. Eddie farmed, raised feeder pigs, mowed roadsides and CRP fields, and did lots of other custom work or farming. He attended many auction sales to buy, fix and resell items in his later years. He was a "Master" landscaper, and as welding was his favorite hobby, he was a metal-work artist, making many "birds" and rake teeth art projects. He drove through every state in the U.S. for family vacations, except Hawaii.
He served last as Chairman of the Valley Township Board for over 50 years, and he served on the Production Credit Association Board for 14 years. He was also on the board for the Grygla Coop Store, and Grace Lutheran Church Council.
After receiving cancer treatment in 2021, Eddie and Delores moved to Badger, MN to live at their daughter's, in a home she and Chad had built for them. On August 11, 2022, Eddie transitioned into LifeCare Greenbush Manor. While there he became well known for his serenading country hit songs to the staff. A talent that he started at that time.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores, children, son Brandon (Socorro "Lupita" Guzmán Rivas) Moe of Albuquerque NM, and daughter Sylvia (Chad) Maurstad of Badger, MN. Grandchildren Bronson (fiancé Caitlin Maier) Moe, St. Paul, MN; Iommara Soto Guzmán Rivas, Albuquerque, NM; Austin (fiancé Lillian Schneider) Maurstad, Fargo, ND; Bailey (fiancé Garrett Christensen) Maurstad, West Fargo, ND. Sisters Marion Anderson of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Linda Carlson of Roseau, MN. Sisters-in-law Lemay Moe of Thief River Falls, MN, and Barbara Picolet of Grygla, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, baby boy Moe, Leonard and wife Edna Moe, Raymond Moe, Alec Moe, Sister Violet and husband Orville Diesen, brother-in-law, Robert Anderson.
The family would like to extend the deepest gratitude to LifeCare Greenbush Manor for the wonderful care Eddie was given for the past 3 years.
The service to celebrate Edward's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Marilyn Grafstrom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Cemetery near Grygla, MN.
