Edward 'Eddy' Monacelli Sr.
Edward "Eddy" Monacelli Sr., 93, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024.
Eddy was born June 22, 1931, in North Hibbing and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1949. Eddy was a proud Italian and an active "Moose Minstrel" singer at the Moose Lodge and an amateur ukulele and harmonica player. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1955. Upon returning from overseas, he met and married Phyllis and began their 68-year courtship. Eddy had an incredible work ethic and held several jobs simultaneously over the years to provide for his family. Despite his long hours, he always found time to enjoy family events, and his love and support was always felt by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Turk) Monacelli; son, Ed (Roberta) Monacelli Jr., Hibbing (children Nick and Laura); daughter, Debbie Monacelli (Greg) Dodge, Buffalo, Minn. (daughters Jayde and Skyler); son, Tom Monacelli, Hibbing (children Christopher, Amanda, and David (Autumn); and son Jim (Carla) Monacelli, Woodbury, Minn. (daughters Francesca and Ava).
He was preceded in death by son, Michael in 2022; father, Mario; mother, Cesaria; sister, Marian; and brothers, Geno and Vincent.
Eddy's service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing, on Monday, November 4, at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Military interment will occur at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing following the luncheon.

I remember Ed well. From hockey games to playing softball for the Dago church( how I got to play I have no idea). RIP my friend
