Edward Monaghan, 85, died peacefully on December 28, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 60 years; children, Maribeth (Christopher), Maureen (Tim), Mark (Lori), and Matthew (Alison); grandchildren, Rachael (Christian), Levi, Madison, Gavin, Conner, Audra, Abigail, Catherine, and Jack; great-granddaughter Emerson. He is also survived by his brother Gerald (Trudy), nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Mark and by his sister, Sister Myra, SSJ.
Ed was a man of faith who was always quick to lend a helping hand. Before his illness, some of his best times were spent around a campfire, enjoying the great outdoors with family and friends. Later, those joys continued at the family’s summer cottage in the Thousand Islands.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from (1-3 PM) at Farrell- Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services (777 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14612). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 1000 North Greece Road, Rochester, NY 14626. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff of the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center who cared for Ed with sensitivity, respect and love.
