Edward Moro of
Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 11, 2026. He was 85 years old.
Born on October 19, 1940, to Beni and Julia (Cueto) Moro, Ed was raised in
Manhattan, NY. Shortly after graduating from Power Memorial High School, he met the love of his life, Terry (Menendez), whom he married on September 7, 1963. In the years that followed, Ed earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting from City College and a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University, all while balancing work, school, and a growing family.
In 1972, Ed and Terry moved from the hustle and bustle of the city to raise their family in the quiet hamlet of
Pearl River, NY. There, Ed became deeply involved in the community, serving as a Webelos Scout Leader and a Little League coach. He was also an active member of the Bergen County Model Railroad Club, holding various leadership roles and contributing to the club's annual Pearl River Train Show. His love of trains began in childhood, sparked by yearly trips riding the rails with his cousins on the Atlantic Coastline.
Ed's professional career began at Design Service, where he met his lifelong friend, Dave Levine. He later spent nearly 25 years at Western Union in the microwave division as an RF engineer. He then went on to work for RAM Mobile Data for 13 years, where he helped build early cellular data networks that laid the groundwork for the texting we rely on today, before retiring in 2004. Throughout his career, Ed was admired for his calm leadership, fierce loyalty, and generous mentorship. He made a lasting impression on all who worked with him.
Ed will be remembered for his sense of humor, kind and generous nature, and adventurous spirit. He had a lifelong love of bowling and, for over 60 years, could be found at the lanes participating in leagues alongside every member of his immediate family. His other passions included traveling, sailing, scuba diving, model trains, and spending time at the beach. An avid Mets and Jets fan, Ed was always a sucker for the underdog until Patrick Mahomes came into his life, after which it was Chiefs or bust.
Above all else, Ed's greatest joy was his family. In 1996, he began the tradition of planning annual family trips to the Outer Banks, with the hope that the tradition would carry on for generations. Sunday family dinners at Grandma and Grandpas, complete with children, grandchildren, and dogs, were a cherished weekly ritual. To Ed, nothing was more sacred than family togetherness. It was only fitting that his final day was a Sunday, spent surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Ed will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend. The selfless love he gave his family is his greatest legacy, his pride and joy, and his reason for living.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Terry; his son, Eddie Moro, and his wife, Janet; his daughter-in-law, Tina Moro; his daughter, Liz O'Callaghan, and her husband, Dan. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daulton, Charlotte, Peyton, Nick, Jesse, and Peter; his cousins, Joe and RoseMarie Maresca; as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will miss him dearly. To know Ed was to love him.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Beni and Julia Moro, and his beloved son, Chris (2024).
A celebration of Ed's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
