Edward E. Nelson

Edward Earl Nelson, lovingly known as Ed, Eddie, Mr. Doog, and Paw Paw, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Ed was a veteran, a retiree of Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark, and a retired Regional Sales Manager of Adco Boiler Company. He was a beloved husband, dad, and Paw Paw, a respected member of the Spanish Fort community, an avid Alabama football fan, and above all, he loved the Lord, his family, and the church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Gini; his two daughters, Jennifer Nelson Tobin (Tom) and Leighanne Nelson Young (Stan); four grandchildren, Cameron Sapp (Melissa), Collin Sapp (Sydney), Orry Young (Joanna), and Kristen Young Hoyt (Matthew); one brother, Clyde Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Arthur and Verla Nelson, as well as his sisters, Virginia Whitworth, Jeanette Bearden, and Shirley Wesson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort, 8353 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, AL, on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Reverend Robert M. Baker will officiate. A graveside service with military honors will take place on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 1PM at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. Honorary pallbearers will be First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort deacons.
