John Thomas "Jack" Nelson Jr., 80, of Delaware passed away Saturday morning, February 14, 2026 at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.

He was born August 9, 1945 in Delaware to the late John Nelson Sr. and Eleanor (Stiffler) Nelson and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

Owner and operator of Nelson Drywall, he was a member of the Delaware Moose, Eagles #376, AmVets Post #102 and lifetime member of the VFW #3297. He attended Eastside Mission church and was an avid golfer and bowler.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judy (Compon); son, Adam (Emily) Rice; daughter, Angela Congrove; grandchildren, Veronica, Raymond, Harley (Jill) Regal, Max, Dana, Reilee, Alexa, Brayden, and Adeline; 4 great-grandchildren, Tate, Parker, Seraphina, and Oaklon; sister, Kathy (Darrell Wheeler) Cantrell; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother George (Alene) Nelson and John.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, where funeral services celebrating Jack's life will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Donnie Akers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery (formerly Fairview Memorial Park) with military honors conducted by members of the United States Army and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1095.
