Edward P. O'Boyle
October 18, 1943 – February 11, 2026 (Age 82)
Edward P. O'Boyle, a man of bold ambition and infectious charisma, passed away peacefully at 7:27 a.m. on February 11, 2026, in
Norwood, North Carolina. His journey began on October 18, 1943, at Locust Mountain Hospital in
Shenandoah Heights, Pennsylvania. Born to John O'Boyle and Mildred Schipits, Ed was one of six children raised in a lively household that shaped his old-school values and instilled a deep love for his Irish heritage.
After graduating from Butler Township High School in 1961, Eddie answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Stationed at Perrin Field in
Denison, Texas, from 1961 to 1965, his time in the military not only fostered a lifelong patriotism but also led him to his greatest adventure. It was in Texas that Eddie met the woman he described as the most beautiful he had ever seen-an Oklahoma girl named Judith "Judy" McDonald. They were married on June 18, 1965, beginning a love story built on faith, hard work, and Irish luck. With Judy, the love of his life, Ed raised four children: Monica, Marcie, April, and Eddie.
A Life on the Move
A "Good-time Charlie" who loved to dance and possessed a booming laugh, Eddie was nonetheless serious about his responsibilities. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was dedicated to raising his children in the Catholic faith.
Eddie's career was as dynamic as his personality. Following his military service, he spent ten years in Pennsylvania-where he remained a lifelong homeowner until 2024-and made a name for himself in sales for Detroiter Mobile Homes. In 1978, he moved his young family to Oklahoma, where his ambition led to a successful career as an Area/Regional Sales Manager for the Goodyear Tire Company, from which he retired in 1999.
Even in retirement, Eddie never truly slowed down. He was a man who loved the open road. Eventually, he found his way to the peaceful surroundings of
Norwood, NC, while his children remained in Oklahoma to build their own lives and families.
To know Eddie was to know a man who was loud, opinionated, and a relentless jokester, yet deeply kind-hearted and wise. His hands were often found in the earth, planting the tulips and lilies he loved, or holding a plane ticket to Ireland to visit his ancestral home. He was a "can-do" optimist who fought hard until the very end.
Edward will be remembered as a larger-than-life patriarch-someone whose charisma and work ethic defined his family's foundation. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
