Edward Osbeck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Service on Jan. 16, 2026.
Edward J. Osbeck, 78, of Monroe Township, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey.

Born on April 22, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Edward, known to many as Eddie, was the son of the late John Osbeck and Margaret Gallagher. He was raised in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Upon returning home, Eddie began a long career with the New York City Transit Authority, where he later retired as a Superintendent. He met and married the love of his life, Theresa Sloane, and together they raised their 4 children in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and pursued further education at Kings Community College, graduating with high honors.

Edward was a warm and personable man who always went out of his way to help others. A natural jokester, he had a gift for making people laugh and feel truly welcome. He loved to travel, especially cherishing family vacations, and found his greatest joy in being surrounded by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Melissa. Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Theresa; his loving children, Ed & Vivian, Christine Nappa & Chris, and Liz Prescott & Joe; his treasured grandchildren, Christopher & Justine, Nicholas & soon to be Jen Nappa, and Kaitlyn and Jojo Prescott. His siblings, John Osbeck, Margaret Gallagher, and Joseph Gallagher.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 U.S. Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at 1pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey 08562.
