He is a US WWII Army veteran who served between April 9, 1943 and November 20, 1945 as a Motor Transport Operator (MOS 88M). In his subsequent civilian career he belonged to Teamsters unions in both New York and New Jersey driving a tractor trailer for a living.
Edward is predeceased by his sisters Frances Crane and Irene Hardman as well as his brother Robert Paye. He is survived by his son Stephen Paye, granddaughter Tracy Paye, nieces Irene Hinton, Tammy Connel and Iris Mathews. Most people that knew him would agree that Edward Paye a.k.a uncle Ed, a.k.a Ed, a.k.a. Eddie, was a real character! He loved to dance! In the 1970's Ed operated monthly dance forums featuring 1950's type music at a local Parsippany manor. Most people who had the opportunity to see him dance believed he was a professional dancer. Ed also got a kick out of stirring up trouble. He was a one-line jokester with a really dry sense of humor. When you had a conversation with Ed, you had to of grown to know him to know when he was pulling your leg otherwise you may just be left baffled.
Ed turned 100 years old on June 15, 2024 and up until the last few months of his life he was still telling jokes and teaching people his favorite dance the Cha Cha. He fancied himself a ladies man since he never fell short of having a dance partner, this was impart because one of Ed's best traits was being a true gentleman. Although he lived his life as a single man, Ed loved to be included in family holiday and special events gatherings, he never missed a family event he was invited to. These are some of the special things we will remember him for and we are so blessed to have had him in our life.
Rest in Peace Ed, we love you.
