Ellen Florence Cooper, 79, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Scottsdale, AZ.
Ellen was born on July 17, 1946, to William and Irene Howe (née Carone) in Brooklyn, NY. Ellen attended school in New York and eventually dedicated her career to public service.
She married Richard Cooper, and together they had two sons, Erik and Rick.
Ellen worked as a Corrections Captain for the City of New York, a role she held with great dedication until her retirement. Beyond her professional life, she was always focused on her family and was known by all who knew her as a fiercely loyal friend.
Ellen is is lovingly remembered by her devoted sons, Erik Cooper and Rick Cooper, who were the pride and joy of her life. She warmly welcomed their wives, Amy Cooper and Deirdre Cooper, as daughters of her heart, cherishing the family they built together. She is also survived by her beloved brothers, William Howe and Robert Howe; William’s husband, Kendal Ascher; and the extended family she held so dear. Her greatest delight was found in her grandchildren, Ciara and Aiden Cooper, whose laughter and bright spirits brought her endless happiness and whom she adored beyond measure.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Howe, and her ex-husband, Richard Cooper.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18th, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, located at 4800 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018.
