Abe Kwok

Abe Kwok, 59 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on February 15, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Hong Kong on May 16, 1966, Abe grew up in Tucson, graduated from the University of Arizona, and then began his 36-year career at The Arizona Republic in September 1989. He was a reporter for many years before becoming an editor and eventually a columnist on the newspaper’s editorial board.

Abe is survived by his loving wife Van Nguyen, and their young daughters Sophia and Noel, as well as his two brothers Jon and Jackson Kwok.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with Rosary prayers at 5:30 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018. Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 10:30 A.M., held at the Franciscan Renewal Center (The CASA), 5802 E. Lincoln Dr., Scottsdale, AZ 85253, immediately followed by Burial at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix, AZ 85009. All family, friends, and colleagues are invited to continue the celebration of Abe's life at The Henry located on Central and Camelback at 1:00 P.M., 2 E. Camelback Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85012.
