James Brooks

James Roland Brooks passed away on March 3rd, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on October 15th, 1952, to Roland and Lillie Mae Brooks in Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

Jim graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1970. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon his return, he received his Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of Arizona in 1981, then started a career in construction. He retired in 2018 as a Construction Rehab Project Manager, after 21 years with the organization.

Jim was a man of many talents, from construction and woodworking, to all things automotive, to electronics, as well as art. He found ways to improve anything he got his hands on, be it converting a carport into a garage, remodeling a dining room, turn a heater place into a fireplace, modifying his sons' go kart to go faster, to building an 8 second drag car, just to name a few examples.

He is survived by his sons, Koabi (Sara) and Gael (Christina); their mother Anne-Marie; his four granddaughters, Riven, Hannah, Korawyn and Wrenna; and partner Carmen. He was preceded in death by his brother Dave, and sister Rachel.

A celebration of life will be held at Vistoso Funeral Home on Sunday March 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and/or planting of a tree, Jim requested donations be made to John's cancer fight. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-john-and-family-through-his-cancer-battle
