Edward F. Pelger

1938 - 2025

Edward F. Pelger, 87, of Ligonier, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. He was born June 7, 1938, in Homestead, a son of the late Edward and Lois (Billups) Pelger. He graduated from South Hills High School in 1957. Edward served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Kaufman) Pelger; his children, Daniel Pelger (Kimberly) of Ligonier, Laurie Albright (Steven) of N. Huntington; 10 grandchildren, Richard (Gabrielle), Andrew, Joseph, and Angela Wolf, Katie Albright, Rachel Albright, Kyle Albright, Carrie (Denver) Hoak, Hannah (Justin) Hegedus, and Abigail Pelger and her fiance, Zack Zimmerman; one great-granddaughter, Riley Wolf; and a sister, Corrine Ward. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Leslie Wolf. He retired as an international vice president of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He served many positions with the Local No. 12 Union in Pittsburgh. He was a member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. He went on mission trips to Betsy Lane, Kentucky, Jamaica, and Biloxi. He served on the Ligonier Valley Endowment. He loved woodworking, sailing, football, and golf. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in MCCABE FUNERAL HOME, 144 East Main St., Ligonier. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, in Pioneer Presbyterian Church, Ligonier, with David Kenyon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairmont Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
