Edward ("Ed") Pierce, 100, passed away in Norfolk, VA on January 18, 2026.

Edward was born in Suffolk, Virginia on August 10, 1925. He was the son of the late Lloyd Hampton Pierce and Mary Estelle Pierce.

He was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and graduated from Granby High School in June, 1943. He served three years in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 where he obtained a rate of Aviation Electronic Technician.

He entered Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) in Blacksburg, VA in 1946 and graduated with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering in June, 1950. While at VPI, he was inducted as a member of the Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi national honor societies.

He joined IBM in July, 1946. He retired in June, 1991 after 41 years of service and held various positions: Customer Engineer, Field Engineering Specialist and Installation Planning Representative.

He was married for 58 years to his devoted wife Elizabeth ("Libby") Jones Pierce. He is survived by his children, April L. Conrad (husband Richard M. Conrad) of Tucson, AZ and David Lloyd Pierce (spouse Victoria Garbett Pierce) and their daughter Lauren A. Pierce of Chesapeake, VA.

He was a former deacon of Willowwood Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, VA and an elder and member of Bayside Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, VA.

Edward celebrated is 100th birthday in August, 2025. Family and friends from all over the country attended his party.

Throughout his long life, he was known for his remarkable memory and for his ability to fix anything mechanical, including cars and household appliances. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

The family will receive family and friends at Hollomon-Brown, Bayside Chapel, 1457 Independence Blvd, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 5-7 pm. A 1 pm graveside service will be held on January 23, 2026 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd.
