Millison Duff Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 22, 2026.
Millison Elwood "Ducky" Duff, Jr., of Norfolk, Virginia, peacefully passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on January 19, 1942 in Norfolk to the late Millison E. and Doris Duff.

Known as Duff throughout his community, his life was one of service and dedication. After graduating from Granby High School in 1960, he pursued higher education at Virginia Tech while also enlisting in the Army Reserves. Duff served with honor in the Reserves for 33 years, retiring as a Colonel.

In his civilian life, Duff was an accomplished licensed land surveyor in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina for Baldwin & Gregg, ultimately becoming the company's President. Over the course of his 45-year career, he headed Eastern Shore Surveyors for 15 years where he developed a love for the Shore.

Duff's true passion lay in his lifelong love for Lionel trains and model railroading. Nothing delighted him more than sharing that passion with children (of all ages!) when they came to visit his basement wonderland of trains.

At home, Duff took great pride in his yard and garden, where his green thumb shone brightly. He also had the knack for spotting hidden treasures on the curbside, eagerly bringing life back to discarded items in his garage workshop.

His generous spirit and willingness to lend a hand extended to neighbors and friends, who fondly remember his willingness to help with any outdoor project or home repair, always having the right tool for the job.

Duff and his wife Gloria were season ticket holders for ODU football and men's basketball and enjoyed following the teams to many away games (even Hawaii!) and creating new adventures. They were avid bicyclists and often rode the trails – everything was just a bike ride.

His legacy of service, kindness, and passion for life will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria A. Duff, his children Christine, Tracy, and Scott from a previous marriage, his cousin Herbert, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Online condolences may be offered at www.hollomon-brown.com. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk.

May he rest in eternal peace.
