James K. Snead Jr., born on February 17, 1961, in Norfolk, Virginia, lived a life defined by service, kindness, and a genuine love for people. A proud graduate of Granby High School, he went on to serve his country with honor as a United States Marine, dedicating 20 years to the Corps before retiring in 1999. During his time stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he cared for his two children with unwavering devotion, creating memories shaped by his warmth, humor, and steady presence.

James was known for his friendly, talkative spirit and the way he could brighten any room with his laughter and smile. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone he encountered feel valued and appreciated. A dedicated and loving husband who cared deeply for his wife and children, he consistently went out of his way to help others, embodying generosity in everything he did.

After his military career, James continued his commitment to service as a Technical Specialist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where his intelligence, dedication, and good humor left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends.

James K. Snead Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Harlow Credle-Snead Rogers. He is survived by his father, James K. Snead Sr.; his wife, Teresa G. Snead; his children, Lauren B. Snead and Gerald K. Snead (Ramona); his grandchildren, Julia, Vion, and Nova; his sister, Helena O. Snead (Tariqah); and a host of loving relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
