Edward Francis Pinkelman was born at home near St. James, NE on July 13th, 1929 to Fritz Stephan and Rose Helen (Imoehl) Pinkelman. He and his twin brother, Edmund were the oldest of seven children. He grew up on the family farm near St. James where he attended country school and later attended Trinity High School in Sioux City, IA for a year.

Edward was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. Upon discharge, Edward resumed farming in Brooky Bottom. He met and later married Jeanette D. Jansen in Menominee, NE on November 27, 1957. Their entire married life was spent in Brooky Bottom, bringing up their family and running a sustainable farming operation. He took pride in the fact that they raised what they fed and fed what they raised. Edward was a farmer to the core, he truly loved the land he was blessed to call home. Many hours were spent walking his pastures, driving around the section and watching wildlife walk across his front lawn and in nearby fields.

He was a member of both SS. Phillip & James Catholic Church and later, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a member of the church choir, and volunteered for many years mowing parish grounds.

Edward enjoyed fishing, raising and hand-shelling (most of all eating!) popcorn, playing baseball, listening to Twins baseball, and dancing with Jeanette. He also coached youth baseball for many years and was a volunteer election worker until he was 90.

Edward is survived by his children Cyril (Paula) of Madison, NE; Mark of Wynot, NE; Sharon (Pete) Van Driel of Irene, SD; Elaine (Duane) Guenther of Crofton, NE; Norbert of Wynot, NE; Betty (Larry) Leise of Pierce, NE; Leann (Tom) Rockne of Yankton, SD; Alan of Bellevue, NE; Nancy of Omaha, NE; Arlene (Todd) Anderson of Bondurant, IA; Roger (Angela) of Omaha, NE; Jolene (Glenn) Brezack of Omaha, NE; Marlen (Emilie) of St. George, UT; Dale (Mindy) of Lincoln, NE; Renee (Kory) Kettner of New Ulm, MN; 48 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren.
