Edward W. Pond III, 74, of Emerald, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at St. Luke’s Carbon Campus.  Born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey on January 10, 1950, he was the son of the late Edward W. Jr and Mary (Fulmer) Pond.   He was the husband of Kathleen M. (McDermott) Pond whom he married on July 20, 1991.        
In the early 1980s , Edward started a career with ROLM Corporation, where he helped launch the Allentown Site as a CBX Service Technician, on what were the first Computer Telecommunication Systems in the USA.  In 1984, ROLM, became an IBM Company and he was promoted to Project Engineer for new Installations at various Fortune 500 Companies expanding to the Lehigh Valley. He remained with the Company through its third name change to Siemens ROLM Company in 1992 as both a Service and Installation Technician, until his 20 year retirement. He went on to work for NCR within the valley, Radio Shack until its doors closed and the Allentown School System in their Technology Department.
Prior to his career with ROLM, he worked at Eastern Telephone & Technology as one of their Telecommunication Technicians after completing 2 Years at LCCC.  However, it was working alongside his father in the 1960s family owned RCA shop in Allentown, that began his true love for Technology and all things Electronic and/or Mechanical. 
In addition to his wife Kathleen, Edward will be lovingly remembered by:  son Ryan C. Pond of Emerald, daughter Rebecca M. Greenawalt and her significant other, Michael J. Johnson of Wescosville, 2 granddaughters; 1 great-grandchild.  He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth L. Yahraes of Rhode Island, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue, Allentown PA.  Family and friends may pay their respects from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, May 5 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington, Pa.  Interment to follow the Mass at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edward’s memory can be made to The American Heart Association c/o the funeral home.
