Richard Dennis DeFrain

Richard Dennis DeFrain, 67, of Oak Ridge Drive, Slatington, went home to the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Born on March 17, 1958, in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Raymond W. Jr. and Gladys (Jones) DeFrain.

Richard was the husband of Karen (Kloss) DeFrain and was one of the co-owners of DeFrain Electric, Inc. Earlier in his career, he worked for many years in his parents' electrical business.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, and quality time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his "safety" meetings held each Wednesday with friends.

He was a lifelong member of Slatington Baptist Church, where he served on many committees, including the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee. His knowledge was remarkable and was often called upon in many situations.

Richard was also a life member of the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club and a graduate of Slatington High School, Class of 1976.

Rich, as he was known to those who knew and loved him, is survived by his wife, Karen; stepdaughter, Samantha Seibert, and her husband, Michael; his grandson, Harrison; stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Nathan; brothers, Raymond M. DeFrain Sr., and wife, Kathryn, and David, and wife, Susan; sister, Carol Ann DeFrain; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Carol.

Service: Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington, with the Rev. James W. LeVan officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Slatington Baptist Church, 509 Main St., Slatington PA 18080.
