Greece: Passed away on April 18, 2024. Edward is predeceased by his parents, Edward & Rebecca Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Grassi) Ryan; children, Gina (Mark) Hurley & Sean Ryan; grandchildren, Daniel & Tyler Hurley, Makayla & Erika Ryan; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Maryann Criss, Michael (Nel) Grassi & Patricia Grassi; many nieces, nephews & dear friends.
Edward served as Sergeant in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is an honored recipient of the Bronze Star. In 1973, Edward joined the Rochester Fire Department and served for 33 years in the Clinton Avenue Firehouse. It was here where "ER" and his brothers formed a life lasting bond.
Outside of his professional life, he was an avid photographer, lover of history, old movies and sports. He was known to get a little overly passionate about his Giants and Yankees and was undefeated in Trivial Pursuit. Edward loved to entertain those around him with his humor, whether it was making up songs with his buddies or sharing stories with his four grandchildren. He will be missed by so many.
Edward's life story will be shared during visitation, 1:00-3:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, April 24th at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am on Thursday, April 25th at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
Memorial donations can be made in Edward's name to Tunnel to Towers, www.t2t.org or Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org

My sincere Condolences in your loss of Ed. As a member of Truck 6 Grp 3 I remember Ed as a rookie. He was always first in attacking the fire. Many times I remember Ed would have blistered ears. Ed was a true firefighter and it was a privilege to have know and served with Ed. Rest In Peace Ed . Bill Ratigan Truck 6 GRP 3.
