Schmidt, Edward
LATHAM - Edward Schmidt, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jayne Schmidt, to whom he was married for almost 54 years; his children, Karen (Ryan) Canniff and Paul Schmidt (Ashton Dorsett); his adored grandchildren, Caelyn Canniff, Brynlee Canniff, and Hattie Schmidt, who brought him endless joy and pride. He is also survived by his two brothers, Ronald Schmidt and Kenneth Schmidt.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a celebration of Ed's Life to immediately follow at 12 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet. Committal services will follow at Memory Gardens.
