Edward Simpson Obituary

Visit the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Edward Hugh "Eddie" Simpson, 72, of Mobile, passed away on October 20, 2025, in Fairhope surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born on November 23, 1952, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to John and Gladys Simpson.

He built a long career with Reynolds Ready Mix USA, where he rose through the ranks to eventually serve as general manager and was friends with colleagues and customers alike.

A life-long Alabama football fan, Eddie was always happiest watching the Crimson Tide every Saturday, even making sure he didn't depart our world until he got to watch the Tide beat Tennessee this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Simpson, and by his brothers: John Simpson and Wayne Simpson. He is survived by his beloved wife Gayle McGill Simpson; his son Matt (Marina) Simpson; and his grandchildren: John Wallace and Elizabeth, who were a great source of joy and pride for him.

The Simpson family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fairhope Health and Rehab and Gentiva Hospice for their care, kindness, and compassion.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama. The funeral service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Church Building Fund at 11101 County Road 64, Daphne, Alabama 36526 or at www.coastalchurch.tv
