Edward Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bedle Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Matawan on Jan. 5, 2022.
IN HONOR OF EDDIE THE FAMILY REQUESTS BRIGHT COLORS TO BE WORN TO THE FUNERAL SERVICE.
On Monday, January 3, 2022, the Smith family lost their father and husband in a tragic accident. Edward Francis Smith Jr. lost his life in his tow truck coming home to his wife. We are certain he is with Jesus now and in no pain.
Eddie was born at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ on November 4, 1980. While growing up he attended Matawan schools where played baseball, football and wrestled from the age of 5 all the way through high school. Then years later he would help other wrestlers and enjoyed being a coach. His love for motorcycles was so deep, while on the back of a bike, he felt the most freedom. Eddie was also a tow truck driver and a long hauler for many years.
Eddie had a welcoming smile and a kind word for everyone he met with a certain type of charisma that made people love him. Eddie was never afraid to approach the hardest of people and show them the love of Christ. He was not without his fault, as we all are. Eddie had struggles & throughout his life, found God at Jesus Fellowship Calvary Chapel and also attended Grace Bible Fellowship & Calvary Chapel Old Bridge. He made many friends and helped people find the Lord and get treatment for various addiction issues. He was also part of the Heaven's Saints Motorcycle Ministry at one point, which exists to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
The lights of his life were his wife Delia Smith (DiMonaco), his daughter Haylee-Rose, sons Noah and Nikolai, and his daughter Luciana. They loved him more than anything. Along with his immediate family Eddie leaves behind his parents Edward Sr and Jayne Smith, his Brother Brian (Maria), And sisters Jennifer (Chuck) and Amanda (Eric), along with nieces and nephews Jaxson, Amber, Brian, C.J., & Scarlett. And many loving Aunts, Uncles & Cousins.
His tireless love & devotion to his family will always be remembered.
2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

I have wonderful memories of Eddie playing baseball at Toomer Field. I had the honor of having Ed on a All- Team team for the Matawan-Aberdeen Babe Ruth League . My nickname for him was Sparky because he was a team leader and played with intensity.
He was also a great wrestler.
