Mr. Edward Smith's parents Ethel Nedd and Edgar Smith were blessed July 17, 1926 with their son. He was born in McIntosh, Georgia and educated in the Jacksonville, Florida public schools. Along with his mother, he was united in Christian fellowship at Peter's A.M.E Church in McIntosh, Georgia. In later years, with his mother, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida and continued to serve Christ at Fountain Chapel A.M.E Church, later joining Greater Payne Chapel A.M.E Church.

God in his infinite wisdom called Edward Smith to his reward, Tuesday, September 16, 2025 and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Smith. Memories will be cherished and his legacy of love will be remembered by his three very longing children: Ms. Latricia Smith, Ms. Ethel Edwards, and Mr. Nathan Smith; four grandchildren: Ms. Latricia Edwards, Ms. Jennifer White, Mr. Jason Edwards, and Ms Lakeisha Banks; six great-grandchildren: Tavaris Hill, Jr., Tavaysha Hill, Zara White, David Nathan Banks, Jason Edwards, Jr., and Amaya Edwards; two great-great grandchildren: Umoja Ava Marie Edwards and Kae'dynce Malone Williams; niece, Darlene Foye; cousin, Barbara Golden; and many other dear and sorrowing friends.
