Edward Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 16, 2025.
Edward Louis Smith Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 14, 2025, at his home in Pasadena, Maryland. Born on August 26, 1942, in Ridgely, West Virginia, Edward lived a life characterized by love, dedication, and quiet humor.

Edward was a proud Navy veteran and a skilled butcher by trade. His love for cars and NASCAR was well known among his friends and family, and he was a regular presence at car shows, where he enjoyed meeting up with old friends. Edward was also fond of spending leisurely afternoons at Dunkin Donuts, sipping coffee and sharing stories with his friends.

His quiet demeanor and dry sense of humor were defining traits, endearing him to those who knew him best. He was a great listener and always had time for his loved ones. He passed down his wit to his son, Lawrence, with whom he shared a special bond.

Edward is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Janet Smith, son, Lawrence Edward Smith and his wife Sonya, as well as his cherished grandson, Joshua Smith. He also leaves behind his brothers, Thomas Russell Smith and Randolph Lee Smith, and his faithful grand dog, Sami. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Louis Smith Sr. and Laura Smith.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during an afternoon visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and an evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. A funeral service will take place there on the same day at 8:00 pm.

Edward Louis Smith Jr. will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, humor, and camaraderie will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
