Eileen was a proud graduate of Griffith High School and St. Mary Mercy Hospital Nursing School where she earned her nursing degree.
After marrying the love of her life, she and Richard devoted themselves to raising their children and building the family business, Smith Paint and Supply.
Eileen will always be remembered as a woman of deep Catholic faith, a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She offered a litany of prayers before every meal, always ending with, "God bless this house and all the people in it."
She possessed an extraordinary capacity for caregiving and opened her heart and home to anyone in need. Whether nursing a loved one back to health or providing a safe place for an elderly relative, she lived her life in service to others and always loving more.
She was joyful, giving, and ready for any adventure. Before marriage, she moved to Europe to help her sister and brother-in- law care for their growing family, an experience that reflected both her adventurous spirit and her deep devotion to family.
Whether hosting a gathering, traveling with loved ones, or sharing stories around the kitchen table, Eileen's presence brought light and laughter to every room.
Her legacy of faith, compassion, and unconditional love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Share Foundation, the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Thomas More, or Hospice of the Calumet Area.
