Edward Micheal Smith Jr, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Edward Michael Smith Jr.October 1, 1963 – January 26, 2026
Edward Michael Smith Jr. was born on October 1, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward M. Smith and Freddie M. Smith. At a young age, Edward accepted Christ and lived his life rooted in Christian faith, trusting God throughout his journey.
Edward attended Chicago Vocational High School and proudly served his country after enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1983. Following his military service, he returned to Chicago, but his love for travel and new experiences led him to live in several places, including New Orleans, Texas, and Minnesota, before he ultimately made his home in South Dakota.
Edward was a man who loved God and cherished his family and friends. He valued connection, loyalty, and faith, and he leaves behind memories filled with laughter, wisdom, and love.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his loving partner, Carrie Elcock; his children, Victoria Bryant, Mia Bass, and Laden Littlethunder; and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Freddie Smith; his sister, Sylvia (James) Fryson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward M. Smith.
Edward departed this life on Monday evening, January 26, 2026, and entered eternal rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing that he is now at peace, resting in God’s eternal presence. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Heritage Funeral home at 2:00 pm with family present prior to the service.
