Edward Eugene Stacks

Edward Eugene Stacks, age 90, was called into his heavenly home, Sunday, October 20, 2024, in Mena, Arkansas. He was born September 13, 1934, in New Edinburg, Arkansas, to parents, Rupert Eugene and Bernice (Smith) Stacks. Brother Gene was a preacher by profession, working and spreading the word of God throughout his life no matter where he was. In his younger years, he worked as a prison guard at the San Quentin Prison in California, while working as a guard he also served as a minister to the inmates. Gene also ministered as the longest-term pastor for the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church in Mena, pastored at the Believer's Chapel in Prescott, Arkansas, he started Koinonia Fellowship in Mena, established the chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Prescott High School, he also wrote two Christian songs that were sung in his church, and was the author of five books. Gene was also a very talented guitarist and singer; he was a member of a country western band that published at least 3 albums and he was inducted into The Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He loved his guns, cars, and motorcycles; enjoying hunting, buying and trading both guns and cars, and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. In fact, Gene served as the pastor to the originator of the CMA, Herb Shreve. Gene's many skills knew no bounds, working as a carpenter for a time he built and remodeled many homes and worked as a driver for Car and Driver Magazine. Brother Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Eugene and Bernice (Smith) Stacks; his beloved wife, Helen Stacks; and by his sister, Martha Clark. He is survived by his sons, Terry Stacks (Alison), Warren Stacks (Kelly); daughters, Brenda Branch (Terry Joe); grandchildren, Joey Branch (Jennifer), Brian Branch (Kathleen), Kristin (Stacks) Newbury (Ian), Lauren (Stacks) Mitchell (Jordan), Ryan Stacks, Rachel Stacks-Dees (Austin), Matthew Boyte (Katie), Landon Boyte; great-grandchildren, Josie and Tate Branch, Tinsley Newbury, Jonas, Norah, Alice, and Julia Boyte; brother-in-law, James Patterson; Marie, Liska, and Betty Jo; as well as by a host of other family, church family, and many friends. Services for Edward Eugene Stacks will be held, Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Beasley-Wood Chapel in Mena, Arkansas. Brother Max Deaton will be officiating under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Owen's Chapel Cemetery in Acorn, Arkansas. A scheduled visitation will be held, Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Juan Tinajero, Jeff Denton, Anon Adams, Ryan Stacks, Joey Branch, Brian Branch, Tony Main, Peter Herr. Honorary Pallbearers are Ryan Denton, Trip Smith, and Austin Dees.
