Edward J. Staehle Sr. 84, of Souderton, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, surrounded by his family at the Peter Becker Community, Harleysville. Ed was married for 56 years to his wife Marlene Hauck, until her death in 2017.
Born in Philadelphia , he was a son of the late Reinhold and Ann (Dwyer) Staehle.
Ed was employed by Univest as mailroom manger working there for over 30 years.
Ed was a 40-year life member of the Perseverance Fire Company #1 of Souderton, where he served as a firefighter for many years prior to switching over to the Fire Police, where he served many positions including Captain of the Fire Police as well as financial secretary. Ed was also a long-time member of the North Penn Goodwill Service of Souderton. Ed also served the Souderton Area School District as a beloved crossing Guard. Serving his community was a big part of Ed's life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, casino trips and collecting clocks. However, his greatest enjoyment in life was his family, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his children, Edward J. Staehle, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Telford, Al Staehle and his wife Regina of Towamencin, daughter; Ann Stuart and her husband Donald of Souderton, Ronald Staehle and his wife Kelli of Souderton, Brian Staehle and his wife Bessie of Schwenksville; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with one expecting shortly. Ed is also survived by a brother, Carl Staehle of Red Hill, Danny Staehle of Nesquehoning, sister, Patricia Benedict, and her husband Don of Norristown. Ed is also survived by brother-in-law Julian Hauck of Harleysville, sisters in law Sandra Chambers and Judy Orr, both of Souderton. In addition to his wife, his brother Ronald and sister Ann "Susie" Smith predeceased Ed.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 11 AM in the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 North Main St.,
Telford, PA 18969. Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM, and again on Thursday morning from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Leidy's Cemetery in Franconia Twp.
