Edward C. Suggs, known affectionately as Ed, was born on July 29, 1946, in Smithville, Mississippi. He passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Amory, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and cherished memories.

A proud graduate of Smithville High School in 1966, Ed was well-known in his community. He enjoyed engaging with friends and family, often seen sharing a laugh or playing jokes that reflected his jovial personality. Ed derived immense joy from driving his jeep and listening to country music, particularly the timeless tunes of Jim Reeves and Hank Williams, Sr. His love for life extended to hobbies such as fishing, sightseeing, and bowling, making every outing a chance to create lasting memories.

Ed was more than just a cherished friend; he had a profound sense of loyalty and commitment. Throughout his life, he attended Smithville Baptist Church, a place that held deep significance for him and provided a foundation of faith and fellowship. Ed’s resilience was exemplified when he survived the devastating tornado that struck Smithville in 2011, further showcasing his strength of character and determination.

He leaves behind his beloved sister, Lane Suggs-Booker, and her husband Don, along with his nephews: Spence Hudson and his wife Robin of Hattiesburg, Alex Hudson of Hattiesburg, and John Suggs of Atlanta, as well as his niece, Amy Suggs of Holly Springs. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Minnie Suggs; siblings Weda Suggs Hudson and her husband Spencer Hudson, and J.W. Suggs and his wife Lella; and nephew Richie "R.W." Suggs.

Ed often spoke with pride about his travels to significant destinations, such as New York, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Disneyland and Disney World, and even a cruise to New Mexico. These experiences not only enriched his life but also allowed him to share stories and inspiration with those around him.

A Celebration of Life for Ed Suggs will be held on October 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi with visitation being from 11:00 am until the service hour. His infectious laughter and vibrant spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, as they remember the joy he brought to their lives. Ed Suggs will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, forever a part of the fabric of his community.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Weatherbee, Wade Weatherbee, Ronnie Boozer, Larry Seales, Kenny Simmons, Jerry Lee Fredrick, Bo Stevens, Joe Hal Morgan, Frank Gaddy, and David Moffett.
