On Tuesday February 21, 2023, Edward James Switzenberg, 43, passed away tragically while visiting family in Orient, SD. Ed endured many obstacles and hardships in his lifetime. Then in November 2021, Ed had yet another setback when he suffered a series of strokes. All that knew Ed will tell you that he was kind, caring, and intelligent, but he will be remembered most for his ability to make people laugh by telling his "funny stories". Ed was loved by many and those closest to him are at peace knowing Ed is no longer in pain.
Born in Miller, SD, on May 29th, 1979 to parents Ricky and Karen Switzenberg. Ed attended Vermillion High School but moved to Orient to finish his senior year at Faulkton High School in 1997 . Ed attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and then moved to Vermillion and worked at Gateway. Later he moved to Yankton and lived there for several years until he decided to move to Sioux Falls to be near his immediate family. Ed enjoyed history, math and watching television. Ed was known for his big heart and was a friend to all people.
Ed is preceded in death by his mother, Karen Switzenberg, sister Joleene Switzenberg and his grandparents Jim and Jane Snyder, James Andrews as well as Shirley and Edward Switzenberg. He is survived by his father Rick Switzenberg, his sisters Tiffany Switzenberg, Theresa Switzenberg, Jane Harms and Roxanne Fiechtner, nieces Joey Fiechtner, Gabriella Ven, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held April 22, 2023 at 2:00pm At Tranquility east side of the building, 801 E. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD.
