Edward Taylor, 87
Okeechobee – Edward Taylor died March 22, 2024. He was born June 30, 1936 in Glen Saint Mary, Florida to Fred Taylor and Willie Mae Crawford. A resident of Okeechobee for 37 years, he was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved fishing, hunting, as well as spending time with family. He was famous for his fish fries of speckled perch as well as his famous hushpuppies.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his father, Fred Taylor, Sr.; mother, Willie Mae; brother, Fred, Jr.; sister, Linda Alvarez; and son, Martin Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sonya Taylor; daughters, Judy Matusky (Steve) and Julie Zbytniewski (Paul); eight grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Jessica, Taylor, Brooke, Sydney, Jennifer, and Shea; family and friends, Rick and Lavon Sweeney, Dewitt and Helen Hersey, Debi Villella, Aimee Hoop, Bryan Villella, Jr. and Mellisa; and his South Carolina family especially Mark Brown, Neil and Cynthia Nettles, Deborah Brown, Trevor and Sharon Foster, and Donald and Trudy Murdaugh.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will be Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Cemetery at 6468 CR 23c Macclenny, Florida 32061
