Edward D. Thomason was born January 27th, 1936, and passed away January 23rd, 2026, in his home with his family by his side.
Edward honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 274. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 30 years at the young age of 55. Edward was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved Hank Williams music.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Thomason of Madison Heights, his children: Sandra Thomason and son-in-law Shannon, Wendy Moses and partner Ellen, and Tammy Bowling, two grandchildren: Danielle Hala and husband Rob, and Michael Bowling, and a sister-in-law Wanda Ashby.
He was preceded in death by brother Frankie Thomason, sisters: Mabel Chumbly, Ella Mae Warden, Ruby Childress, and Barbara Jean Thomason, two great-grandsons: Robert Hala, Jr. and Christopher Bass.
The family will hold a private graveside service for Edward at Fort Hill Memorial Park at a later date. Military Honors to be performed by American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
