Edward C. Throm, 82, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2025. Ed’s life was defined by a dedication to family, a love of sports and hobbies, and a truly kind and generous spirit.

Born on July 1, 1943, in Rochester, New York, Ed grew up in Rochester and attended Penfield High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force which allowed him to spend time in both Scotland and Germany. When he completed his service, Ed moved to northern California, where he met his wife, Anne Marie. They had their daughter there, Jennifer, while Ed completed his degree in Math from the University of California. Shortly after, they moved back to Rochester and had a son, Jeffrey, while Ed started a career as a programmer. In 1978, the family moved to the suburbs of Dallas where Ed would spend his remaining years raising his two children and enjoying retirement.

Ed loved all sports. He was an avid golfer and soccer player (Go Silver Soccer Brothers!), but he also enjoyed coaching his children’s teams, cheering on his grandkids, and sitting back to watch the Cowboys or Premier League Soccer. His teammates remember him as “Fast Eddie” with the killer left foot and as a true gentleman. His children and grandchildren remember his patient guidance and eagerness to kick, throw, or hit the ball around.

Always one to keep busy, Ed could often be found in his garage tinkering (he could fix anything!), but what he really loved was woodworking. He was always in the process of building something, bunk beds, sandboxes, bookshelves, chairs or even a kayak rack for his children and grandchildren to enjoy.

Ed did find time to slow down and enjoy himself as well, having a good meal (for a small guy, he could EAT!), drinking a beer, and sharing a joke. He LOVED to tell a joke, and you often heard it over and over again.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anne Marie Throm; his children, Jenny Throm, Michael Silver, Jeff Throm and Amy Whatton Throm, who will miss him terribly; his seven grandchildren, Sydney, Audrey, Ellie, JJ, Katie, Ella and Maddy, who he adored and found such pleasure in spending time with; and his brother and sister, Jim Throm and Karla Sodano.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano, Texas. A reception will follow the mass.

Ed will be remembered for his generous spirit and desire to help others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to a charity of your choice.

Rest in peace, Ed. You will forever be remembered for your love, your laughter, and the way you made the world a better place.
