Edward Wingard

1934 - 2026

Edward Earl Wingard, age 91, passed away peacefully March 2, 2026, in Waxhaw, NC. He was born on October 26,1934, to John Ralph Wingard, Sr. and Mae Earnhardt Wingard.



Earl grew up in Union County, NC, working alongside his father and siblings on the family farm. After graduating from Waxhaw High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, spending time in Germany. Earl married Mary Ann Grant on May 6th,1966, and the two enjoyed 48 years together and were blessed with four children.



Earl continued his love for agriculture through keeping a small herd of cattle as well as opening the M&W Equipment Company, a John Deere dealership located in Rock Hill, SC, with his brother, Jim. Together they forged relationships with their customers that would last a lifetime.



Earl was a hardworking individual who spoke his mind freely. He enjoyed being outdoors, participating in tractor pulling, watching Carolina basketball and NASCAR, visiting with family and friends, and spending time at Ocean Isle Beach.



Earl was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife; his brothers, John Ralph Wingard, Jr. and James Harold Wingard; and two sisters, Ruth Wingard Sensenbrenner and Ruby Wingard Harriman. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Lewis (John), Kim Texas (David), and Cathy McKenzie (Brady); his son Keith Wingard (Amity); four grandsons, Tyler Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Connor Texas and Tucker Wingard; and two granddaughters, Ashton Texas and Kendall McKenzie. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.



The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who visited Earl over the past several years, and particularly to his two exceptional caregivers, Karen and Miguel Ballesteros of Arcadia Care Home. Their heartfelt care and support of memory patients have been a true blessing to our father and family.



Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Matthews Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Buzzy Elder officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Waxhaw City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memory & Movement, Charlotte, NC, or to a charity of one's choice.
