It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Edwin Joseph Cleghorn, who entered eternal rest on September 5, 2025 at the age of 91 after a sudden illness.

Ed was born on January 3, 1934 to Harold (Jack) and Mary (Arnold) Cleghorn. Ed dedicated his life to the things he cherished most: his family, his faith, and his passions. He married Sharon Pfleghaar on April 23, 1960. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose wisdom, humor, and warmth were felt by all who knew him. He was a man of strong faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee for over 65 years.

Ed was a proud 1949 graduate of Gesu Elementary School and a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School where he forged friendships and values that stayed with him throughout his life.

Ed proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army, where his courage and discipline shaped the rest of his life. Following his service, he built a respected career as a skilled plumber and pipefitter. He was a proud member of the Local 50 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. His steady hands, strong work ethic, and dedication to helping others earned him a reputation for both craftsmanship and kindness in his community. After retirement, he worked for over 20 years at local golf courses, retiring reluctantly at age 84.

Ed was a lifelong sports enthusiast. As a teen, Ed once caddied for Sam Snead in a tournament at the Inverness Club in 1950, earning a $100 tip. He could often be found on the golf course, where his joy for the game brought him countless hours of happiness and friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was also an avid football fan, cheering on the Maumee Panthers, Central Catholic, Notre Dame, and the Dallas Cowboys. He rarely missed a game and was always cheering with unwavering support.

Beyond his love of sports, Ed found comfort and creativity in the kitchen and his large yard. Baking and gardening were some of his favorite pastimes. He delighted in sharing his birthday cakes, cookies, and produce, and his legacy will live on in the cherished recipes he shared with his family and friends.

Above all else, Ed treasured his family. Ed and Sharon enjoyed traveling and spending time with their friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking great pride in attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines. His presence in the stands was a constant reminder of his love and encouragement.

His legacy is one of generosity, devotion, and humor, values he instilled in those around him which will live on through generations. Ed is survived by his children: Kimberly (Mark) Karchner, Ellen (Don) Clark, and Todd (Lisa) Cleghorn; grandchildren, Kendall,

Brendan (Kate), and Evan (Chloe) Karchner, Dylan and Jayson (Allie) Cleghorn, Kaylin (Jake) Newcomer, Dalton (Kim Scharff), Drake (Kaylee), Devon, Danielle, and Delaney (Christian Calle) Cleghorn; and great-grandchildren, Brooks, Libbey, and Thomas Cleghorn, Jack Karchner, and Ella Newcomer; sister in law, Judy Cleghorn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon; son, Thad; beloved grandsons, Drew and Ryan Cleghorn; sister, Mary Catherine (John) Menden; and brother, James.

Family and friends will be received at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00pm- 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.

Ed and his family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Maumee Pointe Assisted Living for the loving care he received while a resident. He was truly treated like family.

Ed, also known as Eddie, Dad, Papa, Mr. C and Big Ed, lived a full and joyful 91 years, and though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever be present in the laughter, stories, and traditions of those who were blessed to know him. As Ed always said, "See ya in the funnies!"
