Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals on Jun. 24, 2025.
Edwin (Ed) Keith Davis, 87, of Mt. Sterling passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025. Born April 16, 1938, in Mt. Sterling, KY, he was the son of the late Palmer and Ermine Stephens Davis. Ed was a former parishioner of Reid Village Baptist Church and loved being involved in retail sales during the last half of his life. He found great enjoyment in greeting and helping customers at Wal-Mart. He was known as "Mr. Ed" by his co-workers and looked forward to playing the Walmart Santa each holiday season. Ed was a bit of a cat enthusiast and rescued many throughout his life. He loved sharing pet stories. If you knew him, chances are he wanted to know all about your pets. He was also a proud United States Air Force veteran.
Ed resided at the Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation for the last two and a half years of his life where he became part of the community and friend to many. The staff quickly learned that Ed was not there as just a resident, but he wanted to help run the facility. He often made his way to the front offices or found administrators in the hall to discuss improvements and coach them on how the team could do things better.
Ed is survived by two children a daughter, Marci (Fidel) Chavez and a son Joseph (Jane) Davis; 6 grandchildren: Daiquiri (Jason) Ams, Raymond (Whitney) Tucker, Nicollette Tucker, Alejandro (Kaitlin) Chavez, Justin Chavez and Anna Davis; and 4 great grandchildren as well as many as nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Clara Harp Davis; a daughter, Rhonda Davis Strickland; brothers, Doug Davis and Palmer Davis, Jr. and a sister, Pamela Davis Spencer.
