Edwin "Ed" O. Gilbertson passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his residence in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 74. Born on December 20, 1951, in Yankton, SD, Ed spent much of his childhood in Irene, SD. He graduated from Irene High School and continued his education at the University of South Dakota.
Ed dedicated his career to Casey's General Stores, where he served as the Supervisor of the Service Department. Known for his amazing work ethic and great sense of humor, he made a lasting impact on his colleagues and friends. Outside of work, Ed had a passion for customizing and working on golf carts and also enjoyed golfing.
Ed married Jacolyne "Jackie" Mason, with whom he had two children, Eric and Jessica. On June 10th, 1996, Ed was united in marriage to Linda Knapp and was blessed with two step-daughters, Tanya and Dallas.
He is survived by his two children, Eric Gilbertson (Jenn Engelke), and Jessica Sarontay (Maria Paladino), two step-daughters, Tanya McGee (Jason) and Dallas Kipper (Jason), his sister Kathi Cates (Dennis), eight grandchildren, and one soon to be great-grandchild.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marcine (Gustad) Gilbertson, his spouse Linda, and his sister Elaine Gilbertson.
Abiding by Ed's wishes, cremation will take place, and no services will be planned.
