Edwin Ronald "Ron" Green, passed away on July 1, 2023, at his residence. He was born on January 3, 1937, in Old Hickory, TN, one of two children born to the late Charles Everett and Mildred (Garmon) Green. Ron was a respected civil engineer with a remarkable career. He was married to the former Vickie McNeese on December 5, 1998, who survives and lives in Gallatin. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee. With his expertise and dedication, Ron worked as an Engineer with the TN Department of Transportation for thirty years. He then joined the Corp of Engineers where he contributed his skills for seven years. Ron's commitment to his profession was highly regarded by his colleagues and the community.
Ron was a faithful member of the Union Hill Church of Christ on Dobbins Pike where he found solace and strength in his faith. He embodied the teachings of love, compassion, and kindness throughout his life. Outside of work and church, Ron found great joy in pursuing his hobbies. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and golfing. These activities allowed him to connect with nature and create cherished memories with family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 24 year, he is survived by, his daughter Sherry Taft and stepson Larry E. Hyde (Angela). His children brought him immense joy and pride. In addition, Ron leaves behind cherished grandchildren Derek Taft (Stacey), Braxton Brinkley, Kaytleighn Clinard, Chase Hyde, as well as his great-grandchildren. His affection for them knew no bounds, and the memories they shared will forever be treasured. Ron was a caring brother to his sister Carole Stanfield and her family. He was also survived by his mother-in-law Imogene McNeese and sister-in-law Kathie McNeese.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his son Brent Edwin Green.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to the funeral service time at 2:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home located at 202 E Main St. in Gallatin with Don Craighead officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Smith, Chuck Cole, Ron Sloan and Alan Durham and serving as active Pallbearers is Chris Stewart, Ronnie Gatlin, Tim Walsh, Frosty Gregory, Ken Flynn and Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow at Crestview memory Gardens in Gallatin.
Ron Green will forever be remembered for his unwavering commitment to both his profession and his loved ones. His kindness extended far beyond words as he impacted countless lives with love and compassion. His memory will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us remember him for the remarkable man he was – May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Arrangements entrusted to ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, Gallatin, TN, 615-461-7777. The family request memorials in the form of donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. You may make these donations directly or at the Anderson Funeral Home.
