Edwin Harlan Obituary

Edwin C. Harlan
Thibodaux - Edwin C. Harlan passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday April 24, 2021 at the age of 85. He was a resident of Thibodaux, LA and native of Cushing, OK. His early career was devoted to retail management of several F.W. Woolworth stores across the country. In 1964, he moved to Thibodaux where he made a career shift to T.G. & Y. He managed or helped to setup and open several area stores including Thibodaux, Houma, Morgan City, Raceland and Plattenville. He retired from the company in February 1991.
He loved his family, friends, fishing, attending gun shows, his furry companions, and helping customers in the sporting goods department of T. G. & Y. When it came to making deals he had a keen sense of what it took to turn a profit.
He is survived by his companion, Gail Trant; daughters, Debbie (Randy) Toups, Sheri (William) Besson and Billie Jo Harlan; grandchildren, Randi Lyn Toups, Ivy Collins, Ashley and Billy Besson, Conrad Harlan, Lorri Jo and Lindsay Faye Olinde; 10 great-grand children; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Lenora Harlan Webb; nephews, Walter H. and John Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Dottie Mae Harlan; brother-in-law, H.B. Webb; grandchildren, Cresta Harlan and K.C. Toups, DVM.
It was his wish that there be no visitation or services. Following cremation, he will be interred at a later date, in Cushing, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org) in his memory and would be appreciated.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma, West Park is in charge of arrangements.
