Edwin Oliver Jenkinson June 21, 1934 – August 1, 2025 Edwin Oliver Jenkinson, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at The Landings of Westerville. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Edwin Earl and Olive (Gabler) Jenkinson. A proud graduate of East High School in Columbus, Ed went on to attend The Ohio State University, where he was a member of the OSU Marching Band, playing trumpet. He later earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Ed spent 54 years practicing podiatry, starting in Bexley/Granville, Ohio, before relocating to Covington, Louisiana. He was affectionately known as "Doc" by his patients, colleagues, and friends, recognized for his larger-than-life personality, sharp sense of humor, fearless spirit, generosity, and ever-present ornery grin. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In his youth, Ed was an active member of The Boy Scouts of America and served as Drum Major in high school. His adventurous side continued throughout his life-he loved inventing, creating art, boat building, and writing books. Ed also served in the Ohio National Guard (Army) for six years and was a member of the Rotary Club in Louisiana and the Masonic Lodge in Ohio. He volunteered his podiatric expertise both locally, at free medical clinics, and internationally in Haiti. Ed shared 55 years of marriage with the late Phyllis (Larrimer) Jenkinson. He was a devoted father to three daughters, Diana (Jim) Davis, Julie LaPerle, and Jennifer (Tim) Mahnke. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Julie Britton, David Britton, Chelsea Britton, Lily (Jake) Ferrier, Faith (Ray) Delgado, and Oliver (Katie) Mahnke. His legacy also includes three great-grandchildren: Adeline, Calvin, and Theo Ferrier, all of whom he adored. Ed was not only a beloved family member but also a valued member of the communities he served, known for his wisdom, warmth, and ability to bring joy to everyone around him. A celebration of his remarkable life will be held by the family at a future date.
