Edwin Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Homes & Crematory - Milton Chapel on Jun. 11, 2024.
Edwin Jones passed away at the age of 34 in his home in Pace, Florida. Katie, his wife, was with him in those early hours of June 9, 2024.
The youngest of two children, he did to Jessica (his sister) what all loving, nurturing, annoying, younger brothers do to big sisters. He berated her, poked her, tried to break down her bedroom door, and otherwise terrorized her. All this while loving her as deeply as anyone can love another person.
And that describes who he was as a youngster. What did he become? Ray and Marguerite Jones raised their son Edwin with a moral compass that came through in everything he did. He was a talented chef, a devoted husband, and an active participant in his new in-law family. It is said you can tell a lot about a man by how he treats children and his mother, Edwin treasured both at the highest level possible. He doted on his eight nieces (Caroline, Ava, Georgia, Amara, Parker, Maggie, Peyton and Palmer) and one nephew (Trenten); and he honored his niece Madi as though he knew her.
His default setting was to help others. He knew he was blessed to have achieved what he did, and he wanted to help others. And he did that many times.
He gifted promising chefs elite knives, took his nieces and nephew on special trips, made sure his mother was taken care of when his father was out of town on business, all while working to support himself and Katie. And he did it from the heart. Not for accolades or at-a-boys. It was his true pleasure to be a part of all these lives. Some of the smaller nieces called him Eddie, or beard face. He didn't really like that but would never tell them. It gave them pleasure, so it gave him pleasure.
Somewhere along the way Katie walked into his kitchen at the Hilton. His life changed forever. She didn't know it at the time, but he was her future. He told his friends that she was the next "ex-Mrs. Jones." She thought he was crazy, almost a stalker, she claimed. But they dated almost in secret until she absolutely had to tell her parents about him, and he had to tell his parents about her. In the end, he was her rock.
We are all so glad they found each other. Our lives are richer for having known him. He has a way of doing that for people for that, we all thank Edwin. We hope he's found peace. He leaves a hole in the world of those who knew and loved him. And he will forever be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 15, 2024, at The Gulf on Okaloosa Island from 2:30-6:00pm.

I met and worked with Edwin at red fish. He was always friendly and smiling. He believed in people and helped in any way he could. He was a genuinely kind and caring person. It's sad to know the world has lost such an amazing person.
