Edwin James “Ted” Kelley, of Birdsboro, PA, (formerly of Overbrook and Media, PA) passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026.
Ted was the son of the late John A Kelley and the late Joan M Linahan Kelley, formerly of the Overbrook section of Philadelphia. Ted attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Grade School and later Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor where he developed his faith. Ted was proud of his Overbrook heritage but was most at home in rural Berks County where he resided for the latter part of his life.
Ted is preceded in death by his sister, Anne and is lovingly survived by his siblings: John (Kim) of Middletown, Joan of Glen Mills; Thomas of Coatesville; Michael (Ivy) of St. Louis, MO; Eileen (Anthony) of Havertown; and Mark (Margie) of Harleysville. He will also be remembered with love by his 15 nieces and nephews: Ana, Kevin Jr., Josh, Alyssa, Kevin, Erin, Patrick, Alex, Michael John, Sarah, Liam, Morgan & Grace, their 17 beautiful children, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends.
A talented and dedicated carpenter, Ted loved working with his hands. Ted spent most of his adult life self-employed in the trade he loved where he was able to demonstrate his remarkable talent, creativity and problem-solving skills. Over the last 15 years he utilized those same skills maintaining educational facilities, most recently at the Twin Valley School District.
Ted had a lifelong passion for music – listening to it, singing along with it and especially dancing to it! His favorite pastime was attending concerts and music festivals where he enjoyed a beer and a strong bond with his music crowd. He loved his family and being outdoors in nature and was especially fond of animals. He found joy in simple moments and treasured the friendships that shaped his life.
Family and friends are invited to Ted's Visitation 9:00-10:30 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 6301 Woodbine Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19151. Interment Private.
