Gonzales, Texas, the fourth of seven children, on June 6, 1939 to Edwin & Frances Malatek. He married Jeanette on September 8, 1962.
He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1958. After graduating he went to work for the Coca-Cola Company, he joined the National Guard and then went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation, until he retired in September, 1993, after 34 years. Needing something to do after retiring he started raising hogs and chickens. After many years and realizing his health was going downhill, he decided to finally quit. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing, which he took his grandchildren many times especially Christian. Christian would say that grandpa wouldn't be quiet. He would either be talking too much or moving around too much, which is not surprising if you knew him.
