Edwin C. (Bib) Malatek Jr. 84, of Gonzales, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born on his family farm in Gonzales, Texas, the fourth of seven children, on June 6, 1939 to Edwin & Frances Malatek. He married Jeanette on September 8, 1962.
He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1958. After graduating he went to work for the Coca-Cola Company, he joined the National Guard and then went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation, until he retired in September, 1993, after 34 years. Needing something to do after retiring he started raising hogs and chickens. After many years and realizing his health was going downhill, he decided to finally quit. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing, which he took his grandchildren many times especially Christian. Christian would say that grandpa wouldn't be quiet. He would either be talking too much or moving around too much, which is not surprising if you knew him.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette of Gonzales; daughter: Terry Cabler; son's: Gary (Tammy) Malatek, Billy (Ella) Rhoades, grandchildren; Candy (Cole) Henson, Jessica Cabler, Christian Malatek, Keith Gerald, Damaris Green and Cody Green, step-grandchildren: Amber (Scott) Howington, Brittany Dunaway, CJ Mccullough, Derah (Costas) Agouridis, great-grandchildren, Jameson Chappell, Emmett Henson, Trigg O'neal and Trace Brown, step great-grandchildren, Riley Howington, Ayda Rosenbaum, Aurelious Johnson, Stevie Rosenbaum, Braelyn Rosenbaum, Anieran McCullough, Aydrianna Rosenbaum, Adyson Rose Howington, Lilly Agouridis, Katerina Agouridis and Athena Agouridis, brother, Raymond (Pam) Malatek, sisters, Betty (Harold) Tieken, Ruby Shaver, Barbara Jean Vanek, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edmond Malatek, sister Mary Ehler, brother-in-law Floyd Shaver, sister-in-law Paulette Malatek, niece Jana Rae Malatek and nephews Jason Finch, Dwayne Malatek and Chris Finch.
