DENNIS MALATEK Los Angeles After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Dennis Frank Malatek died peacefully on Dec. 5, 2021, in Los Angeles, with his sister Jennifer by his side. Per his wishes, his body has been donated to science and a memorial service will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Dennis was born Feb. 8, 1959, to Marvin and Helen (Schmitt) Malatek. He worked on his family farm near North Liberty while attending Clear Creek Community Schools. Upon graduating in 1977, Denny followed his dreams to California where he studied at USC. Classmates remember Denny's ever-present pocket protector and mechanical pencil as well as his kindness. Denny participated in medical studies so that his cancer might help researchers, doctors and future patients. Denny is survived by his brother, Michael (Barb); sisters, Kristine and Jennifer; and his nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
