Edwin (Ned) J. McGowan, age 87, of Parker, CO, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Sara (Storme) McGowan.

Ned was also preceded in death by his sisters Mary Virginia Logue (John) and Shirley Snyder (John), and brothers Thomas (Lillian) and Raymond (Camille). He is survived by his brothers Paul (Margaret), Philip (Jean), and Patrick (Micheleann), as well as more than thirty nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Inspired by his father, Ned developed an early passion for building. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) and later a Master of Civil Engineering degree from Stanford University. Over the course of his 42-year career in commercial construction, Ned contributed to a wide range of projects-from power plants to Washington, D.C.'s Union Station-and relocated more than nine times in pursuit of his professional calling.

Outside of work, Ned was a faithful Catholic and long-time member of St. Elizabeth's Parish in Rockville, MD. While there, he served on the school's maintenance committee, offering his expertise and guidance, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

When time allowed, Ned loved to travel-especially to the national parks-and made two memorable trips to Alaska. He was also an avid photographer, always eager to capture the beauty of the world around him.
