Edwin Lee Nachtigall
October 27, 1927 – October 25, 2023
Edwin Lee Nachtigall went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2023.
He was born on October 27, 1927 to Henry and Elizabeth Nachtigall in Aurora Nebraska. He was the youngest of eight children.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Lou, and sons Kelly Nachtigall (Kathy), Terry Nachtigall (Jennifer), Gerald Nachtigall (Sheryl), and daughter Marcia Frank (Bill). He had eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He attended Tabor College in Kansas. He was known by many as a teacher, coach and administrator in the Fresno City Schools for 30 years. He was also an auto broker who sold new and used cars since the 1960's.
He was a great friend to Fresno Pacific University where he coached basketball in the late 1950's and early 60's. He was inducted by Fresno Pacific University as an Honorary member of their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. He was a member of Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church as well as having attended and served actively in Bethany and Butler Mennonite Brethren Churches in Fresno during
his lifetime. Ed made friends everywhere he went.
He passed two days short of his 96th birthday. His life was long, full, and he influenced the lives of so many. He put his faith in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." He will be greatly missed, but his
wish would be that everyone would accept the eternal gift that Christ offers to all who put their faith in Him.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held at the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church on November 13, 2023 at 10:30 am.
Remembrances can be made to Palm Village, 703 W. Herbert Ave. Reedley California. 93654
