Edwin Novak

Edwin "Jake" Novak, 93, of Nottingham Township, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born May 27, 1932, in Donora, a son of the late Nicholas and Anna Novak. Edwin attended Bryant's one room schoolhouse as a child, was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School and earned a training certificate from Penn State University. Education was important to Edwin, and he instilled this in his children and grandchildren. He retired from the former Western Center in Canonsburg, where he worked in the maintenance and HVAC department. He also was employed at the former Finleyville Auto Parts. Edwin was proud of the house that he built and his farm, cutting his grass until the age of 93. He enjoyed coloring on his iPad, watching YouTube and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Surviving are three daughters: Denise (Michael) Davenport of Milton W.Va., Patricia (Nick) Del Zingaro of Purcellville, Va., and Catherine Novak of Finleyville; four grandchildren: Leann (Chas), Nick (Frances), Annie and Marissa; one great- grandson, Lucas; siblings: Ken, Irene and Mary Ann; and a large extended family Deceased are his first wife, Marcella Novak; second wife, Frieda Novak; siblings: John, Charles, Dorothea, Margie, Betty and Malvena; and his beloved cat, Dennis. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., David P. Kegel, Supervisor 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. Additional visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, with a Blessing Service beginning at 11 a.m., at the Funeral Home. Interment following in Monongahela cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
